Z:
Where's home?
ATM:
I call Lawrence Kansas home but I'm from a small town in Kansas. But I love traveling and seeing new places. I would like to live on the road someday!
Z:
Oh yeah? Road life, what does that look like to you?
ATM:
Like eventually I'd like to have an RV or Camper. Go city to city and If I fall in love with a place stay longer or call it home if need be.
Z:
That's the absolute dream for many budding touring artists.
I know what ATM stands for, but for our viewers, can you explain what ATM stands for and what it means to you personally?
ATM:
Well its my initials to my actual name so that's why I went with it, but it has gotten a bigger meaning to it after playing with ideas on the name. It means "about the music". Because I'm about just that. Bringing together the community and the underground in unity. Trying to build up my friends and family to get to where they wanna be.
Z:
You wear quite a lot of hats; Touring Artist, Promoter, Booking Manager, Talent Scout. Would you agree to the statement "One has to be in multiple fields to truly succeed nowadays?"
ATM:
I would say yes. The more connections and fields you dabble in the further it will take you. There is a million artist. But only so many can book tours, throw shows and find talent/bring them together. I just knew I couldn't wait around to be booked or someone to put me on their bill. So I took it in my own hands!!
Z:
Face Melt was started because of similar mindsets! The go-getter attitude is certainly rare to find.
You've traveled through quite a few cities this last year or so. Are there any particular cities that stood out amongst the rest?
ATM:
I mean I loved Denver and Colorado Springs. Pensacola, new Orleans and Albuquerque!! Different culture and scenery than the Midwest!!
Z:
There's so many different cultures just in the U.S. alone. From the midwest to the south, there are so many wonderful different types of people. You must have some interesting "on the road" stories you can share?
ATM:
Going to Florida beaches for the first time. New Orleans bourbon street, climbing Colorado bluffs with my brothers. I am alot of times the responsible one and old man on the road. Making sure we make our times and places accordingly!!
Z:
Speaking of old man, you're a touring artist who is also a father to two. To many, they'd quell their dreams of music temporarily, if not permanently, to prepare for fatherhood. One would say, from the outside looking in, that it's only made you pursue music even harder. What's some advice you'd give to an artist whose about to be a parent and is worried that they might have to give up music?
ATM:
That you should try to show your kids to chase your dreams and never give up what makes you happy. I lost my family and mother of children alot of music and promotion to blame. But I wouldn't change anything now. Stay creative, always stand for what you believe in and make yourself happy before anyone else. You shouldn't have to give up something that makes you happy.
Z:
So.....Do you believe in aliens?
ATM:
Haha I do. Has to be a different life form out there. And my brother was super into back in the day. X files theme song creeped me out.
Z:
33° C or 33° F?
ATM:
Haha 33 C°
Z:
Face Tattoo or Butt Tattoo? What Tattoo would you get?
ATM:
Butt tattoo and "your name"
Haha just so I can say I have your name tattooed on my ass
